Ticketing: US Open tickets for 2006 are sold out, but you may be able to get tickets for the practice rounds (keep an eye on the USGA website for details). Otherwise, you'll need to buy from a ticket agency.

Road: See the club's website for detailed directions (look for "directions" in the top menu). You can reach the course via the I-95 (exit 18a) and the Hutchinson River Parkway (exit 22)
Rail: Mamaroneck is on the eastern Metro-North railroad, with regular trains leaving from NYC (you want the New Haven line which starts at Grand Central Station - it's 40 mins from there to Mamaroneck). See the homepage for schedules and details. A shuttle service runs from the station to the US Open course.
Air: La Guardia (regular bus service to Metro-North trains) is the closest major hub, followed by JFK International (bus and shuttle servcies into the area) and Newark International (Airport Express trains go to Grand Central to connect to the New Haven line). The major airlines also run North American flights into Westchester County Airport, which is in White Plains, just a few miles away from Winged Foot.

Accommodation and facilities: There are county accommodation listings at the local tourist site. Needless to say, there are one or two places to stay in the wider NY state area, too.

Local sights and sounds: For local attractions, try the Westchester County Office of tourism for events and listings. There's also a Mamaroneck village website. Winged Foot is so close to central NY, that you'll also enjoy the city's offerings. Try the try the NY Times city guide or the official city tourist website.

Tournaments before and after: Barclays Classic ... Booz Allen Classic.

Location and event tips: The US Open takes place on the west course. The last time the event was held at Winged Foot (1984), it was won by Fuzzy Zoeller. Let me know if you have any more tips.
