The Presidents Cup

Note: This is the 2005 entry, details for 2007 will appear soon.

Dates: Monday, September 19th to Sunday, September 25th. The team matches run Thursday to Sunday.

Location: Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, One Turtle Point Drive,
Lake Manassas, VA 20155, USA, Tel. 703.754.7533

Ticketing: Presidents Cup tickets went on sale mid-October 2004; see here for information on how you can buy them. Practice days are $35, tournament days $60-$80, or there's a weekly ticket for $250.

Road: The course is about 35 miles west of Washington DC, off of Route 29 (follow Lake Manassas signs), just a few miles southwest of where Route 29 intersects with I-66.
Air: Washington-Dulles International (IAD) serves all major national and international destinations and is just 20 miles by road to the northeast. Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA) has domestic US connections and is an hour's drive away to the east (about 37 miles).

Accommodation and facilities: The local county convention and visitors bureau has an accommodation directory. Another altenative is to reside in the west side of Washington DC and drive the few miles to the tournament each day. The Washington DC site has a booking form and lodging directory (which also covers Virginia).

Local sights and sounds: You can learn about Lake Manassas at the local community website and see a directory of nearby public golf courses here. For tourist attractions, consult the guides at the local county tourism site and the broader Virginia tourism site. With Washington DC so close, you might want to take advantage and take in some of the USA's biggest tourist destinations, such as the Whitehouse or the Smithsonian.
