The Funai Classic

Dates: Monday, October 16th to Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

Location: Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando, FL 32830

Ticketing: Funai Classic tickets are sold through the Orlando District Chamber of Commerce (tournament hotline is 407.835.2525).

Road connections: The tournament's courses (Palm and Magnolia golf courses) are in Disney's Shades of Green resort, located opposite the Polynesian Resort of the Magic Kingdom complex. Reach the Magic Kingdom Park (southwest of Orlando) off route 192 or I-4 and follow the signs.
Air: Orlando International (MCO) is the nearest major airport, though you may land at Orlando Sanford International (SFB) if you're on a holiday charter. The former is 21 miles to the east of the golf courses, the latter around 40 miles to the north(east).

Accommodation and facilities: You can book a vacation or hotel at the Disney World Resort site direct. For accommodation elsewhere in the region, try the booking service and directory at the Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Note that the tournament takes place about 22 miles southwest of downtown Orlando.

Local sights and sounds: Not sure you really need any tips here - the tournament takes place in one of the largest entertainment complexes the world has to offer and the Orlando region is stuffed full of sporting and leisure opportunities. For information on all Disney-related attractions, visit the official website. For broader Orlando and Orange County attractions, try the local tourist bureau. Set aside a few hours just to work through the options!
