The Colonial Invitational

Dates: Monday, May 21st to Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Location: Colonial Country Club, 3735 Country Club Circle, Fort Worth, Texas 76109, USA. Tel: 817.927.4277, Fax: 817.927.4398

Ticketing: Colonial tickets are normally available online from the official site. Prices were $30-45 for a day ticket and $100-$200 for a weekly pass in 2006.

Road connections: The Colonial is off the I-30 to the southwest of Fort Worth. There are two parking areas close by with a shuttle service to the course. The official site has detailed driving and parking instructions.
Rail etc.: Fort Worth is an Amtrak hub, with regular rail services. The local transportation authority offers a bus service around the city. Look for route 7 from the main station to reach the Colonial. There's also an express rail connection between Forth Worth, Dallas and the international airport.
Air: Dallas/Fort Worth International is around 30 miles away by car and serves all major domestic and international destinations. Dallas Love Field is a smaller facility, and has flights to around 17 US cities, mainly in the south. It's about 40 miles east of the Colonial Country Club. There's a bus shuttle service to Forth Worth hotels from both airports.

Accommodation and facilities: Needless to say, there are no shortage of hotels and other accommodation nearby. Try the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau directory. Western Dallas isn't far, either, so if you prefer, you can search for lodgings at that city's bureau.

Local sights and sounds: The local tourist site has full details of Fort Worth events and attractions, which include the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame(!).

Tournaments before and after: BellSouth Classic ... Memorial Tournament

Location and event tips: The Colonial tournament has been held on the same site since 1946, making it the longest running event of its kind on the PGA Tour. It's also famous as the tournament played in (in 2003) by top lady golfer Annika Sorenstam. Let me know if you have any more tips.
