Buick Invitational

Dates: Monday, January 22nd to Sunday, January 28th, 2007.

Ticketing: Buick Invitational tickets can be bought online from the official tournament site (may not be ready for 2007, yet). For the 2006 event, a weekly pass set you back $85 when bought in advance, with daily passes costing between $15 and $22, depending on the day (gate ticket prices were higher). There were reductions for seniors and free entry for some visitors.

Road connections: The tournament is just a few miles from downtown San Diego, up the coast to the north (near the University of California site). It's just off Interstate 5. You'll find more detailed directions here. Check this page for information on local parking and shuttle bus services for the duration of the tournament.
Rail/Bus: San Diego has Amtrak and Greyhound stations. There are bus routes passing near the golf course (Route 101 from Oceanside Transit Center, Route 34 from the Old Town Transit Center).
Air: San Diego International serves numerous commercial airlines flying to various US destinations. The only public transport into town is the 992. The airport is 16 miles south of Torrey Pines, but also lies just off Interstate 5.

Accommodation and facilities: There are two hotels adjacent to the course - the Lodge at Torrey Pines and the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines - and numerous in the near vicinity. The tournament site has a convenient list. The San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau also has accommodation listings, with a good search facility (you can narrow the search to the La Jolla region).

Local sights and sounds: The tourist folks have lots of details on things to do, including a section for golfers. Among the highlights in San Diego are the world famous zoo and SeaWorld.
