Accenture Match Play Championship
Dates: Monday, February 19th to Sunday, February 25th, 2007.
Location: South Course, The Gallery Golf Club, 14000 North Dove Mountain Blvd., Marana, Arizona 85653, USA.
Ticketing: Accenture Match Play tickets can normally be bought online or over the phone. See this page for details (tickets may not yet be available for 2007). A day ticket in 2006 cost $25 in advance or $30 on the gate. A weekly pass cost from $76.50 up, with special packages for early bookers.
Road connections: The course is some 20 miles north of Tucson, and best reached from Interstate 10 (take exit 240 on to the W. Tangerine Road exit).
Air: Tucson International has nonstop flights to various US cities and is about 36 miles away to the south, further down the I10. Alternatively, you can fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor International. That's 100 miles to the northwest, further up the I10. There's also a small regional airport at Marana itself.
Accommodation and facilities: The local Tucson convention and visitors bureau has a "where to stay" section, which includes a reservation service and details of vacation specials and packages offered by hotels etc. The Marana Chamber of Commerce lists some hotels and similar in its member directory.
Local sights and sounds: Tucson is flanked by national forests and parks. You'll find details of these and other attractions at the local tourism site. The WGC event often coincides, for example, with the Tucson Rodeo, described as the "largest outdoor mid-winter rodeo in America," and is just a few miles from Biosphere 2, a giant glass-covered "mini world."
