84 Lumber Classic
Dates: Monday, Sept 11th to Sunday, Sept 17th, 2006.
Location: Nemacolin Woodlands Resort & Spa, 1001 LaFayette Drive, Farmington, PA 15437, USA, Tel: 724.329.8555
Tournament office: 1019 Route 519, Bldg. 7 Eighty Four, PA 15330 Tel: 724.329.9100
Ticketing: You can buy your 84 Lumber Classic Tickets online at the official site. There are early-bird offers if you're quick, otherwise standard prices are about $25 for a day ticket for the competition or $84 for a weekly pass.
Road connections: The event's website has maps and driving directions from various starting points. You'll find the course just off Route 40, about 55 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
Air: The nearest major airport is Pittsburgh International (PIT), which serves numerous domestic destinations and is around 85 miles to the north and east. The resort has its own private airfield, too.
Accommodation and facilities: The Nemacolin Woodlands resort has accommodations available, but I suspect these may be otherwise reserved. You'll find lodgings in Farmington, Uniontown and other nearby locations; there's a relevant directory at the Laurel Highland Visitors Bureau website (Farmington is in the south of the area covered) and at the Chamber of Commerce for the local county (Fayette).
Local sights and sounds: Both those sites also list attractions and other tourist information. For areas close to Farmington, use the Fayette page, and the Laurel Highland page for things to do in the surrounding region. Since it's an outdoor region, there's plenty of golf and fishing to be had, or whitewater rafting if you're feeling adventurous.
Tournaments before and after: Bell Canadian Open ... Valero Texas Open / Ryder Cup
Location and event tips: The Mystic Rock course is the one used for the event. Let me know if you have any tips.
