Fan Awards for 2004

Thanks to all who voted online during October to December 2004...here are the results of the Golf Stars Online Fan Awards for 2004...

On the female side of things, Annika Sorenstam got five of the seven awards she was eligible for (and got an honorable mention in the two she missed out on). Among the highlights, she collected almost five times as many votes in the "Best female tour golfer" category as her nearest rival, and was also a very clear winner in the categories, "Female golfer you'd most like to be sitting next to on a 7-hour flight" and "Female tour golfer who best upheld the values of the game of golf."

On the male side, the awards were spread out more evenly. Vijay Singh won in two categories - he was the clear choice by a mile for "Best male tour golfer," and also won the "values" category, narrowly beating Ernie Els. Tiger Woods also picked up two categories - most exciting player and "male golfer you'd most like to be sitting next to on a 7-hour flight."

Phil Mickelson just squeezed the fan-friendly award ahead of John Daly. And the "youth" awards went to Ian Poulter for "fashion sense" and Adam Scott for "eligibility".
