Getting signed photos and other golf star memorabilia
I get quite a bit of email asking how to get signed photos of your favorite golf stars. Here's the advice I give:
-
Online auctions often have signed photos put up for sale by small dealers or private individuals. eBay, for example, has hundreds of such items up for sale.
-
Use the search engines to search for terms like..."signed photo davis love"...and you may find memorabilia store catalog listings that way.
-
Use Yahoo! or Dmoz to search their memorabilia store categories for potential sources.
-
Write direct to the players themselves. Ideally, include a photo and an SAE. To find out how to contact a player, read this article. Many professionals will honor such requests. However, you may have to wait from a few days to a few months for a response, if you get one at all. Incidentally, if you want a photo for charitable purposes (to auction for a good cause, for example), there is special information on this from the LPGA.
Finally, if you're not getting your signed photo direct from the player him- or herself, then keep a careful eye on authenticity. Most reputable sellers will offer some kind of certification.
