Shelly writes:
"I had the pleasure of taking care of Mr and Mrs Watson and their guest at Pineapple Grill at Kapalua, which is located on the 18th hole of the Bay Course at the beautiful Kapalua Resort on Maui. They were a wonderful and gracious party."

COMMENTS FROM 2005:

Shirley Smith from Georgia says:
"My husband read the book "Caddy for Life" and I have just finished it.  This is one of the most heart feeling books that I have ever read.  Tom Watson and Bruce Edwards give a new meaning to the word team.  They were a team in every way from true friends to companions.  Mr. Watson, I salute you for being such a kind man."

Tal DeWitt from Fort Mill SC writes:
"I have watched Tom in many tournaments on TV over 30 years. Maybe I am only thinking of me, but finally I was fortunate to watch Tom play in person in Charlotte at the Wachovia Championship on May 7th,  2005.  I followed him and was excited to be only 3 feet from him as he walked up to the 9th tee box.  I wanted to ask him a question since he was so close and called out his name.  He ignored me and passed on by.  I can't tell you how disappointed I was the rest of the day."

COMMENTS FROM 2004:

Editor's note: You can contribute to ALS research, strongly supported by Tom Watson, at the Driving 4 Life website.

A visitor says:
"I first met Tom Watson in 1973 at the New Orleans Open. I have followed his career ever since because he was such an asset to the game of golf.

I have just found out this year doing historical research on the Belvedere Club course in Charlevoix, Michigan. Tom's father and he played this course many years together since it was his dad's favorite golf course. They played against each other's handicaps and his father had unusual success again Tom. Tom petitioned the club to review how the course was handicapped so that he would be more competitive.

The club did such a review and used 35 years of scores from the Michigan Amateur tournament (played at Belvedere) as their criteria. They, indeed, found that the course was not handicapped properly and actually changed how the course is now handicapped. I do not know if that was to Tom's advantage or not.

He is such a class individual, and, in addition to being a consummate golf professional, his involvement with ALS shows how he cares for his fellow man. Bravo for Mr. Watson."

Marti W. from Maryland writes:
"I have to admit, I am not a golf fan, sorry. But I wanted to comment on the work Mr. Watson is doing with ALS. It is a horrible illness. We are sadly watching my husband's father suffer with it as we speak. He is currently seeing a specialist at John's Hopkins but because there is not enough funding for experimental treatments, he isn't able to go as often as he should. I just wanted to say, thank you to Mr. Watson. Not many people have this illness (thank goodness), but it's individuals like Mr. Watson that bring this serious condition to the limelight. We are grateful."

AH from St. Louis says:
"Thank you Tom Watson for supporting and contributing to ALS. This is one of the most cruel and incredibly debilitating diseases. My wife and I just lost a son to this disease in January and know first hand how horrible this disease is. We must find a cure soon."

Dan M. from San Diego writes:
"Tom, all my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family of Bruce Edwards. He was a fine gentleman and class act. Ben Hogan now has the finest caddie of them all!!!"

COMMENTS FROM 2003:

Mechelle from Rio Frio says:
"Thank you to Mr. Tom Watson for bringing more national attention to a cruel and incredibly debilitating disease...ALS. My dad endured 15 years (not very common) but still had his superior intelligence which makes this disease the most cruel punishment one could endure. I would pray that he would not have his mind so he would not know he was trapped in his body. Many sport professionals make lots of money but never have I seen one of your caliber. Giving your entire check to a cause you believe in is admirable. I will continue to pray for your success and I think you will be rewarded here as well as in heaven. God Bless you and your family."

Steve, from Scotland writes:
"Just watched TW (again) in the Seniors Open at Turnberry. Having followed most of his round, his courteous manner shines through. On most tees or "green to tees" he would find particular time to engage children either with a friendly smile or one or two words. Don't know if it made the day for the kids or their Dad! It was an honour to see him in action, once again."

Sabrina from Maryland says:
"I've been a fan of Tom Watson for 20 years. I have traveled to St. Andrews, Scotland to Akron OH, to 2 US Opens and a Senior Open to watch him play. I've never been fortunate enough to see him win, and he's lost two playoffs, so I'm beginning to think I'm a jinx! He has always conducted himself in a professional manner and is very down-to-earth. He was kind enough to sign a print for me and actually thanked me for following his rounds at the World Series of Golf. On top of everything else, now he is doing wonderful things for his caddie, Bruce Edwards, who has ALS. Tom Watson defines class, something the game of golf needs more of."

Bill Greenlaw from Chambersburg PA writes:
"I first noticed his ability at the 1973 New Orleans Open. Have followed his career avidly since then. His highs were mine, his lows also. What a thrill seeing him shoot 65 in the Open this year! I'm disappointed that he doesn't play more these days, but am grateful to have been a fan for the last 30 years."

Deb Star from Austin says:
"He the greatest. I've watched him for over 20 yrs. I finally got to see him in person in my own town. The Kinkos Classic of Austin. I was thrilled to finally see him in my home town. I only went to one other tournament he was in - the Byron Nelson Open. Thanks so much Tom - you're the best, good luck the rest of the season."

COMMENTS FROM 2002:

Terry T from Nevada writes:
"Tom Watson is the ultimate pros' pro. Since early in his career till the present his dogged competitive spirit combined with great natural talent has resulted in 8 major tournament wins. I have always been impressed with his controlled demeanor. He is one of the few touring pros who always flashed a smile to the crowd after a birdie. He deserves his place in history as one of the all time greats."

Andy from the UK says:
"I watched Tom Watson winning the British Open at Turnberry in 1977 and to this day I still think it's the best golf I've ever seen anybody play. Such a modest down to earth guy as well."

Jeanine-Duluth, MN writes:
"I have been a fan of Tom Watson for over 20 years.... I started following his career when I was a senior in high school....I decided to try golf because of him!!!! I am excited that he is on the Senior Tour now...and maybe will finally have an opportunity to see him play golf in person!!! Keep up the good work Tom..."
