Recent comments on Arnold Palmer

Rick Lee from Katy says:
"Tiger, Phil et.al should all thank their lucky stars for Mr. Palmer. He came along with the advent of televison and made golf the popular viewing experience it is today. I hear golfers on television today thanking Tiger for increasing the size of the tournament purses at today's tournaments. If it was not for Arnold Palmer and his great ability and fan appeal there may not be any tournaments today!

He is class on and off the golf course. Every PGA player should send him a piece of every check they earn for if not for Arnie they would not be enjoying the fruits of his labors. He is and shall remain the #1 Icon in the world of golf. He is a man's man!!!" (August 9, 2006)

COMMENTS FROM 2005:

Dan F. from Ohio writes:
"WHAT A CLASS ACT. I heard that he hasn't won a major in FORTY-ONE YEARS, yet the man remains an Icon in the golf world. That says it all about Mr. Palmer. He's a modern-day Pied Piper {Arnie's Army.}"

Laura Koren (non-golfer) from Michigan says:
"I was very pleased to hear about Arnold Palmer's marriage. It's so refreshing to see a celebrity who marries an age-appropriate partner. It shows the man as having values! 'Good luck' and happiness to you both!!!"

COMMENTS FROM 2004:

Bill Vaughan from Greenville writes:
"I have been a part of "Arnies Army" for many years. He is a class act and has given so much back to the sport. I feel he is the greatest and will always remember his charge to win. God Bless Arnie! It would be the highlight of anyone's life to sit and talk to him and just listen. I had that pleasure for about 5 minutes once in N.C. as he started to play...he always showed that class act of a golfer and what the game is all about."

Bill from Haverhill, MA says:
"Golf won't be the same without Arnold and Jack teeing off. We love watching them, we don't expect them to be as great as when they were 20, 30, 40 years old, we don't care, we want to see them. I don't care who wins, I want to see them on TV or in person. The majority of fans will be with Arnold Palmer and Jack, not the other players, win or lose."

Syd Johnson from Canada writes:
"This is just an E-Mail from a very amateur golfer who's sorry Arnie has finally hung up his clubs. He has given me many hours of pleasure watching him on the various golf courses of the world. Thanks Arnie for all the memories."
