Jan from Toronto writes:
"I am always disappointed when you do not play so am sad to hear I will not be able to see you on TV till January 20. But can understand why you would not want to disrupt the family Xmas to get ready for the Mercedes. Wish they could have such a prestigious tournament a bit later so it does not interfere with players' family time. Merry Christmas to Phil, his family and all his fans. Let's hope for a Happy 2005"

Dave from NC says:
"Phil, you epitomised class the way you handled yourself in victory and in the many close shaves in major championships, a great role model for millions of children and adults. Unfortunately, your leaving Titleist with 16 months left on your contract because they wouldn't give you a better deal was a polar opposite of what we have come to expect and admire about you, it...was extremely disappointing."

Tim from California writes:
"My (no longer) idol has decided (...to move on to Callaway...) instead of honoring the next 16 months with Titleist. Shame on you Phil. One question; when you were slumping last year, did Titleist ask for money back because of of your subpar performance, or did you offer to take less?"

A visitor says post PGA Championship:
"So close again! But Phil did play a better round than Vijay today. Together with finishing only two strokes out of the playoff, that seems to me the next best thing to finishing in the top 3. I'm sure all of Phil's fans agree that this amazing and gratifying year is only the beginning of greatness; Phil may not have won the last three majors, but his consistency in contention speaks for itself. Just watching him, it's clear he's the best; winning is an added bonus! And speaking of added bonuses...

The ladies are always talking about how hot Sergio is, but he is just a cute little boy next to the sexiness that is Phil Mickelson! Mature, yet youthfully enthusiastic - not to mention clean-cut American-style handsome!

He is the embodiment of everything that is desirable in a man. Add to all this that smooth swing, that even smoother stroll up the fairway, that smile, his truly intelligent and creative short game, and some incredible putting (when he's not under too much pressure), and there it is: my ideal golfer and man.

Amy is a very lucky woman (and should not be surprised to learn that *this* woman is hardly old enough to purchase alcohol). I am very glad that Mr. Mickelson knows how well black becomes him; he is the best dressed player out there. Also the classiest. Who could ask for anything more?"

Bob Glaudel from California writes:
"Based on his Masters win and almost U.S. Open win, Woods' recent decline, and the performance of Els and Singh in the 4th Open round, I think Mickelson right now is the best golfer in the world.

His skills are comparable to all others, and his new patient approach of not attacking every hole on every shot, has reduced his errors and steadied his play. And, if he could have avoided the yips on crucial short putts in the last several years and last Sunday, he probably would have won 3 or 4 majors by now."

Abby W. from NC says:
"Oh wow I love Phil Mickelson so much...I watched him in the US Open last week and cheered him on...I was kinda disappointed when he double bogied at 17...but I mean he was stressin out cuz he heard everyone scream for Goosen's birdie at 16...he's still an awesome golfer and I want to meet him...I love him so much."

Darren, Long Island writes:
"This guy is truly a class act. Great golfer, great person, he loves the crowd and they love him."

A visitor says:
"He is the favorite of both my husband and myself. Always so polite, and that smile can make one so happy. Just a great golfer, and man. Thanks, Phil!"

Caid Faske from Amarillo, Tx writes:
"Dear Phil you are the best player in the world to me. You have a great talent in golf. You and me have met each other at the 2001 Byron Nelson Classic - you gave me a ball. Well you are doing great this year."

Mary Kay Oakleaf, from Green Springs, Ohio says:
"Phil Mickelson is my husband's favorite golfer. He loves his attitude and the way he approaches life and golf.

Our daughter lives in Charlotte NC and when he was there golfing this year she was hit by one of his golf balls on the 9th hole in the leg. They waited for a long time after the tournament to get his autograph for her Dad, but he didn't come back out.

Our daughter's husband took a picture of her leg with a large bruise on it, and sent it framed to her Dad for his birthday with a note saying that this is as close to an autograph that she could get. Dad loved the picture, and will continue to cheer on Phil."

Joe F. from Westchester, NY, writes:
"Phil, great win at Augusta! I'll be there at Shinnecock for your second major victory on your way to the grand slam! Heck with the "Tiger Slam." Phil's gonna win it the right way!"

Christian Tellez from Ft.Myers, Fl says: (editor's note: thanks for sharing this personal experience Christian!)
"I had the pleasure of attending this year's Masters and sat front row center as Harrington and Triplett made their back to back holes-in-one, and witnessed Arnie's last stroll at Augusta. But the greatest memory that I walked away with was the shot I never saw.

As we were trying to work our way through the gallery to take a peek at perhaps history in the making the crowd was just overwhelming in size and made it impossible for a good vantage point. So we prepared ourselves for a playoff, thus claiming our precious real estate for what should have been a play-off hole.

As we waited the roar the crowd told us there was not going to be a play-off. We literally took a few paces and positioned ourselves to what would be for me a thrill of a lifetime. By now everyone waited to take gander at Mickelson and as I looked back into what was a sea of humanity (rows and rows of people), I was caught up in in the excitment -- as were the 90,000 people around me.

It was pandimonium. It was insane -- how sheer joy was the overwhelming theme of the day and from nowhere inside the ropes, surrounded by law enforcement, Mickelson made his way through. I raised my left hand and Mickelson made a b-line towards me and gave me a thunderous high five and patted me on the shoulder.

I perched into his face and I felt what he felt: "rapture". I can't describe how emotional that snapshot of my life was but I'll never forget that moment. Phil Mickelson will always be the golfer I identify with and wish the very best for in golf and in life."

Bill Scott from San Antonio writes:
"To my favorite golfer of all time, congratulations! I too, have been struggling to accomplish a goal for years. One setback after another, especially finances, but watching you and cheering for you each week, makes me realize that maybe it's not too late for me. Hopefully I can win my 'Masters', instead of struggling to make ends meet. Thanks for the hope that you bring to others."

Rick Stanaland says:
"I had a chance to play with Phil in Las Vegas and what a treat. His attitude and his sense of humor are something I will never forget. I wish there was someway for him to get this due to the fact he probably would not remember me, but on Masters Sunday myself, my wife and my two children had our fingers crossed that he would make that putt and he did. He is my hero. How can he get this???" (Editor's note: see this page for info on getting messages to pro golfers)

Dave M. from California writes:
"Our whole family watched Phil's incredible performance on Easter Sunday at the Masters. We all pull for "Uncle Phil" (our nickname for him). It has made my whole week. Way to go Phil."

Carolyn from Chicago says:
"Best Masters ever!!!! Wow!! I followed Phil last year at the US Open and loved every minute. He talked a lot to his caddy about club selection and ball flight. He is a great champion and will be this southpaw's favorite forever!"

JM from Baltimore writes:
"I was playing poker at the Borgata in AC when you made the putt on the 18th. The place erupted. Congratulations!"

Jerry B. from Florida Keys says:
"Class act. You are a tremendous ambassador for the game of golf. May you have many more successes.."

Linda, Gareth and Margaret from Stockport, England write:
"Many Congratulations Phil from three of your British fans - your success is well deserved. We were thrilled to watch you play at Loch Lomond last year."

Greg K. from India says:
"I don't play golf or anything but watching Phil in the Masters these last three years I knew that one day he will win the Masters at Augusta, and on Sunday night I saw him fulfilling his dreams which I myself have been hoping for these last three years to see him win the most important tournament of the year which he did so in style especially for a lefty. So three cheers for Phil and to his family. Keep it up and win some more majors this year."

Marie S. from Springfield, LA writes:
"I am not an avid golf follower, but I have watched Phil Mickelson over the years and was very much impressed by this gentleman. He is a very graceful golfer and you can see the perfection when he plays...not to mention what a great husband and father he is. Congratulations on the Masters...well deserved... God Bless you, Phil and the best of luck to you."

Larry D from Pennsylvania says:
"What an awesome display of courage, tenacity and skill to win the Masters. He is truely one of the best and will now get the recognition he deserves as a true champion who is a role model for young golfers everywhere."

Betty Hanna, Paris, Texas writes:
"You did a wonderful job yesterday and I am so glad you won the Masters. I was pulling for you all weekend. Good luck in the upcoming golf tournaments."

Sheryl V. from Peoria, IL says:
"It was such a pleasure for my husband and I to watch you win the Master's today. We've been rooting for your success for some time... It's truly a joy to watch you golf and more importantly it's awesome to see your joy when you see your wife and children after a tournament! May you continue to be blessed!"

Jerry, from Mountain Top, Penna writes:
"He made my Easter - it was the greatest Masters. I was so excited for Phil and his family - just wonderful. He is the best."

Jim Hedge from Oklahoma says:
"Congratulations on the 2004 Masters!!! One down, three to go!!! Most people thought Tiger would be the first Grand Slam winner. I like Phil's chances!!!"

Joe & Sherrie from Minnesota write:
"Congratulations! You did it!"

Bev J from Jacksonville says:
"Phil, please take my advice: "Lose the visor, win a major" You'll win the Masters!"

Lew Wilson from Missouri writes:
"I noticed that Phil seemed to be missing some of his short putts and noticed that he rolled his left hand opened very slightly which would allow the ball to miss on the high side. I know it sounds a little far fetched. But he is one of my favorite golfers and I would like him to win more."

Vanessa D. from Boston, MA says:
"I just wanted to say that I think Phil is one of the greatest golf players I've ever seen. He has real grace and perfectness when he plays and also that he seems like such a great guy. If I would make a description of the perfect guy to marry it would be Phil."

Adelle Blackman writes:
"I met Phil in 2002 when he played and won against David Toms in a Shell World of Golf tournment. He stood in the hot sun and signed autographs for EVERY person that came up. He talked to everyone. I got to talk with him, sit in his golf cart and we had our picture taken.

I have met many golfers, but PHIL is my man. I admire his family values and his gentle way. GOD bless you Phil. I will never regret you being my favorite. I hope to see you next year at the J.C.Penny Classic at Westin Innisbrook......You CAN win it."

JD from Sactown, CA says:
"Year of the leftie...I think PM will win two majors this year... which ones, I don't know. Good luck Phil!!"

Dan Wiggins writes:
"Phil, I got your autograph on the putting green at the GMO and said to you that I wanted to share it with my grand kids after you had won about 20 majors. Well, we both know what has happened since.....and I blame myself for making that comment to you.....maybe putting too much pressure on you to be such a success....and then again maybe you don't even remember the incident which I sincerely hope is the case.

Either way, you have a multitude of fans that are pulling for you to get that first major and I hope that 2004 will do it for you and your family!!!!! Great golfing in 2004!"
