"Great last round 63 at the Sony Open David! We're all pulling for you. We
all wish you the very best here at Shady Hollow Country Club in Massillon,
Ohio."
COMMENTS FROM 2005:
David G. from Massillon, OH writes:
"I don't know if anybody is paying any attention, but David Duval is
getting better and better each week. He's made one cut and just missed the
following event he played by one stroke. For those who forgot who he is,
if you know golf, you can see he is on his way back. I predict he'll win
in 2006. Good luck to you David. Hope you read this."

""We have come too far and suffered too much, too distain the future now." When John F. Kennedy uttered those words in a Presidential speech, one could rightly argue they were meant to apply to the likes of a David Duval --- someone of talent, whose tired efforts are waning, and exhausted, he is ready to give up.
David, I hope you read these comments, because we are caring fans who adore your style and contribution to the game of golf. And perhaps seeing these comments will remind you, "you have come too far", to stop now. Thus, reach for the freedom found in taking chances. Cling to that chinese proverb, "better to live one day as a tiger, than a thousand as a lamb."
Find the bravery again; For being a champion is also like being a warrior --- one who overcomes obstacles, like Oydessy, is one who perseveres in the face of negativity.
David, I am convinced the Masters awaits your return to form, all before your career is over.....but you must believe.....I believe your destiny is Augusta, that you will turn the golfing world on its head, and prove, that only when we have been in the valley, can we truly appreciate the view from the top of the mountain.
Mount up with wings of eagles, as the biblical quote goes, and remember, there is a destiny to all this. Understand that destiny is a spirit that will aid you when you walk through this search of yours, and you will not be weary, but lifted back where you belong.
You must run with the freedom of chance --- all the time remembering the gambles necessary to prevail and the risks you were once prepared to take; remember when you didn't care about the flight of the ball, but only the magic of the moment; remember the absence of space and distance, not knowing if there would be any consquence to the swing or game itself.
Remember.
Remember as only champions can! There are years left for you. And you will find a way, when everyone least expects it. I can't wait to see the day the green jacket is placed over your shoulders."

"David, it isn't over until they put you in the ground. You have the ability, just ask for some help. Slow down a little and enjoy the walk. Keep things in perspective and trust in yourself and it will come."

"David, today they replayed the 1999 Bellsouth because rain postponed the live play. You looked so confident, a real stud. On 18, with a lead you went for 18 over 270 yards of water (Miller could not believe it), but you were calm and cool and took a 2 iron and nailed it. We miss you David.
The talent is there - keep your head up and just remember the way you used to walk in front of the pack. You can still do it, and DO IT FOR DAVID."

"Being from the UK, I only get a chance to see David at the Open. I was at
Lytham when he won in style - to me he won the hardest golf major there is.
You can get it back again - come on David."
A visitor says:
"Until I tried golf in the late 90's, I figured only the most boring people could have an interest.
When I got the bug, the intensity of David Duval caught my eye (not sure if
I was aware of Tiger). One thing's for sure - if Duval could recapture the fire, it would be great to see him in his rightful place, battling
Tiger, Vijay, Ernie and Phil. Imagine the interest that would generate. He obviously has the physical skills and as my first favorite player,
I'd love to see it."
Justin O. from Toronto

"Half the battle is mental. Fight through the struggle David and you'll soon find your game. A man of your passion should never pack it in. Fight the last fight and show your worth. Many fans support you and always will. Find that one thing that makes you tick, hold on to it, and use it to get back to the glory days. It's only in your mind, and a matter of time."
Rick from Orlando, FL

"David, your game has gone ugly. It now hurts just to watch you play. Come back to the tour when you have your game back and spare everyone the pain."
Royce B. from Chattanooga, TN
writes:
"Let us not forget one thing; David Duval won a major championship and was formerly number one in the world. He has the right to play on the PGA tour no matter how poorly it is going for him right now. He is not taking spots from others because he is exempt through next season. Also, remember another major champion who went through down times and is now competitive again? That is right
- John Daly winner at the Buick Invitational last year. I hope that Duval gets it back, but even if he doesn't he still has earned his spot in Tour."
Joe B -- Markham, Ontario
says:
"Message to David:
Why do you keep doing this to yourself? Could you ACTUALLY be enjoying this in any way? The purpose of playing in a professional golf tournament is to compete -- to beat others. You are coming last just about every time you enter. Are you practicing? Getting help with the mental side of the game? If so, then why are you 15 to 20 shots worse than you once were, consistently? Where is your pride? Why not pack it in before you totally destroy any mark you could leave on this great game? There must be other things that you can do, which you would be better at. Go on, enjoy life. Don't continue torturing yourself like this. And, by the way, encourage David Gossett to do the same."
A visitor writes:
"I would just like to say David Duval is one of the best golfers in the last 20 -30 years.
His record until the last couple of years is as good as most...David needs and should be on the
PGA. He will one day be back!!!!!!!!!!!"
Bob P from RI

"Something has to be seriously wrong. Triple bogey, bogey, bogey and double on the first four holes at Bayhill tie him for 111th. Not a golfer of this caliber. Something's wrong."
Gunny from NC

"Dave, I just want to say that the good lord has given you a talent to play golf and you do it well. Play to have fun and not what everyone else thinks. God Bless Dave and enjoy the new
family, you deserve it."
Ron Beatty - Lawrenceville GA
says:
"I always loved to watch David Duval play golf. I think he was and will be one of the best strikers of the ball. I hope he is doing great in his personal life, but I do hope he comes back to play great golf again."
Ricardo from Albany
writes:
"As a David Duval fan I hate to make comments like this but I feel that it is time for the PGA to step in "for the good of the game" and inform him that unless and until he demonstrates markedly improved proficiency he will not be allowed to participate in any PGA tour events. I do not know what demons are preventing him from fully employing his considerable talents but there comes a time when one must decide what steps to take "for the good of the game". Certainly Joe Dimaggio exemplified that when he took himself out of games because he knew he wasn't performing at his best. I am not suggesting that he give up, but it is painful to see David on the bottom of the tournament list week after week."
Annie in Maryland
says:
"David - I am an 83yr old golf watcher - you and John Daly are my
favorites. Also Phil Mickelson. I hope you are happy married. John came
back - so can you. Live for today and tomorrow. I know I have had good
and bad roads. See you in 2005."
Doug from Toronto

"Before David was on the PGA Tour, I knew he was going to be great. His win at the British Open meant so much to his fans that love his Ayn Rand hero personality. We need him back on top to hear some intelligent comments in the interviews."
Mark from Missouri
says:
"I'd like to see David Duval enjoy the game again ... regardless of win/loss. He's always had game and I say he still does. Just keep hittin' balls Dave and we'll be seein' ya on top the leader board again!"
Rick from Arizona
writes:
"I do hope you can get your game back and become the golfer of old once again. I enjoy so much watching you. You are
truely a special person. Hang in there and god bless you."
