Diana from Washington writes:
"You're my girls' (age 5 & 15...also a gator fan) favorite golfer....and one of mine too. I can't wait to see you play in person at the International. We'll be cheering for you!" (June 16, 2006)

COMMENTS FROM 2005:

Darlene & Rick Cavalier say:
"Chris has made watching golf a highlight of our weekend. We think it is just a matter of time and you'll have the major you so deserve. We are all pulling for you. We are fans !!!"

Scott S. writes:
"I recently switched to the claw grip putting style and it turned the worst part of my game into the best. I dreaded putting since I missed everthing. In turn I had no confidence in (putting). Now after two rounds, I have made everything in putting. The ball rolls perfectly and I love the putting game. It has turned the worst into the best of my game... thank you beyond belief for showing me your gripping style... meaning your "playing with the pros" on the Golf Channel."

Jim and Terry W. from Florida write:
"Hey Chris, we were pulling for you at the Masters this year, and you made us proud. We remember when you and our daughter Maria were part of the Brantley golf team kids who hung around Sabal, Wekiva and Sweetwater! Good to know you are chasing your dream, and one day we know you will be wearing that green jacket."

Dion D. from Rochester, NY says:
"Thank You Chris!!!!

After struggling on this game for the last few years, unable to find out my "issues" I picked up a little tip watching you play the Masters. After trying what I learned from you this past week, I immediately straightend up my drives, long irons and dropped 7 strokes off my game. What is it that I picked up??? I noticed that just prior to you striking the ball, you take a small 1/2 back swing that I took as you getting a feel for the trajectory of your club on your backswing. I tried it and it immediately helped me make the correct turn on my backswing. Thank you again!!!"

A visitor writes:
"I was pulling for you all the way on Sunday.....your grit and shot-making were great. It is just a matter of time before a Major is in your hands...Go get it!"

T. Daluga from Houston, Texas writes:
"I am not a Tiger fan. I think he has been way too lucky over the years, almost suspiciously lucky. Anyone can beat him if they have the game and I think Chris showed that on Sunday. I think it's just a matter of time for Chris DiMarco, because like Phil, Mark will have his day with the green jacket on. We're with you Mark!!!"

Daniel from Denver says:
"It was stressfull watching Tiger and Chris dueling it out on Sunday: two of my favorites neck-and-neck and only one allowed to win. It's been a real pleasure to see Chris come into his game, and something of a here-we-go-again thing every time Tiger takes a wood in hand.

By distancing themselves so far from the rest of the field, I feel that both Chris and Tiger "won" in the event. It wasn't a gift or collapse that settled it, just one of two fabulous performances being a stroke better at the end. Kudos to both men, and I take pride in being a golfer because of folks like them."

Mattie Shuff from Laurel, MS writes:
"Chris DiMarco out played everyone playing in the Masters. He should have won, but didn't. I for one am very very sorry but we all know life is not fair. I think he is the greatest."

Leah from Augusta says:
"I live in Augusta, so the Masters to me is an event in all its entirety, and Chris surely was one awesome player and competitor! I just love his fist pumps, so feisty. Go chris and go Gators!"

Rick L. from Spring, Texas writes:
"Tiger's chip in on 16 was an incredible shot....and a lucky one too. If you gave him 49 more tries it would not have gone in again. I would put $100 on it. It was a one in 50 shot. Your chip on 18 was a great shot...and an unlucky one. It should have gone in. I think that was the difference. An inch on 18 or an inch on 16 and you would be Masters Champion. But you already have won. Look how many fans are responding to your performance. WOW! Take it to him again and get some luck to fall your way! I look forward to seeing you play again in contention. You keep playing the way you are playing and a major will be yours soon. Absolutely incredible iron play."

Pete from London Ontario says:
"Valour and wisdom were display by Chris DiMarco 2005 Masters. Sometimes it is not the jacket you wear but how you shine. Thanks for teaching us all how to play with heart while wrestling a Tiger. Chris you were a beacon to us all that day. I hope the Lord blesses you with a Major this year. We will be watching and cheering every stroke and putt.
P.S. Thanks for the final words with your family - they were cherished."

Michael Green from Houston writes:
"Chris, you showed the world this past weekend that you compete at the highest level. As far as I am concerned it was the most exciting tournament play I have personally witnessed. You exude class, talent and mental strength of a rare degree. I absolutely enjoyed watching you compete in this year's Masters! Keep it up because you are extremely fun to watch and golf fans need you! When the camera was on your family during the final moments of the playoff hole, I hoped for you all with fists clinched!"

Michael from Tucson says:
"I just have to write and say What! a Show! The first interview at 18 was horrible. He didn't even acknowledge your beautiful daughter and he never mentioned what a show you put on, you're the one that pushed Tiger. Great Job!"

Gator6251 from Florida writes:
"OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE! This member of the Gator Nation applauds your skill, determination, and your class in the 2005 Masters. What an exhilarating experience you gave us! Thank you!"

George Parr from Toronto says:
"To finish one stroke off the lead at the Masters at the hands of the number one ranked golfer does not make you a loser by any means, no matter how skillful a person is, luck always comes into the picture as with Tiger's chip in on the 16th. Chris's performance was outstanding and in my books equalled Tiger's play, well done Chris, and well done Tiger. Surely this is championship golf at its absolute finest."

Roy B. from PA writes:
"Top marks to Chris for his excellent play at this year's Masters. I know he was greatly disappointed by the last nine of round 3, Sunday morning, but to come back and play the way he did in the final round after losing the lead to Tiger and having to play catch-up, which is mission impossible against Tiger in the final round of a major, showed not only his golf talents and his competitive drive, but a great deal of heart as well. After Tiger's improbable (even for him) chip-in on 16, most people would have rolled over and died. Not Chris. He just said, "Nice shot" and played his heart out for the last two holes. By the way, what an awesome shot into 17! And then he almost chipped it in on 18! Great stuff!!!
By the way, I started using the claw grip on putting a couple of years ago after seeing Chris using it. It gives me a much more confident feel on short and medium range putts and better distance control on longer putts.
Way to go, Chris. Keep up the fight, buddy."

Jerry from Swanhouse B&B Seldovia, Alaska says:
"Chris, We were pulling for you as far away as Alaska. Tiger is a worthy opponent and we feel that you outplayed him but unfortunately only the scoreboard said otherwise. We wish you the best in the future and will be pulling for you."

Ryan Delaney from Laurel, MD writes:
"I am a huge Tiger fan and have been since he was an amateur playing at the Porter Cup in Niagara Falls years back. I have followed him and cheered for him to win every tourney he is entered in. Yesterday, I was thrilled to learn Tiger caught Chris DiMarco and was on his way to earn another Green Jacket. Saying that, I have to say by the end of the 9th hole, I began to cheer for Chris DiMarco to win. He played brilliant and withstood the pressures of playing with Tiger and most importantly in the final grouping of the Masters. Chris is now my second favorite golfer because I love the fact he didn't get himself down and took it to Tiger every chance he got. He is the role model we should tell our kids about. He won without winning. He won the hearts of many golfers."

Mark E. from MN says:
"Chris has a huge heart, never giving up though so many opportunities barely slipped by - it must have been gut wrenching, and he kept his cool throughout. A true warrior of heart.
And we all know that in a thousand years all glories will have faded, but Chris has true treasures today - he has a beautiful family. I've read of his devotion to his loved ones. On the trophy of wonderful people, Chris DiMarco's name is right at the top."

John Klein from Virginia writes:
"Chris DiMarco is a Masters champion in ability, demure, and character. The final round of the 2005 Masters at Augusta was a thrilling spectacle that could have gone either way. The skills of both contenders were outstanding, and only the fate-graced chip by Woods on the 16th green made the difference. Had Tiger not been so fortunate, I would have expected to see Chris in a Green Masters Jacket not only this year, but in the years to come."

Randy in New Braunfels, Texas says:
"I have been out of touch with players and have not followed anyone with interest. You have given the fans a new man to follow. Your bulldog approach is great to watch! You have a great family and we will all enjoy watching you kick butt!"

S. from Florida writes:
"I know you would have liked the title and the trophy at the Masters but thank you for the wonderful golf. It was a pleasure to watch you and you are a true gentleman under pressure. I would wish you future good luck but I don't think you need it. Thank you."

Dan Candella from Minnesota says:
"Chris DiMarco's and Tiger Woods golf play in the Masters was pure poetry. DiMarco might not be remembered as the victor of the Master's but as the warrior that fought back and showed such grit and relentless courage. That might be more memorable than any green jacket. I hope he can let it go and know that America has given him an overwhelming thumbs up. It was easy to see the disappointment in his face while being interviewed but his little treasures were there to provide all the comfort that any man could want. I think most people will agree he is a fierce competitor and that speaks volumes about his character. This year's Maste's will go down in history as one of the best. In the end it was a remarkable 4 days of golf and as I said already sheer poetry to watch this team of performers bring smiles to our faces, especially that putt that froze in time for all eternity to watch."

Parson from S.C. writes:
"In my opinion, Chris exhibited golf talent at its best in the final round of the Masters against Tiger Woods. The pressure and attention must have been awesome but the level of play under these conditions was pure enjoyment to watch. With talent like this, Chris is already playing championship golf."

Larry Wilson from Treasure Island says:
"What a great performance by Chris DiMarco in the Masters today. Only a once in a lifetime shot by the player who might become the greatest golfer of all time kept Chris from winning. All of us Gators couldn't be prouder of him! Go Chris!"

A visitor writes:
"Congratulations, Chris!!! You may have been beaten by Tiger but you weren't outplayed. Your ability to hang tough and come back from a setback in round 3 was fantastic. I wish more Americans had that ability. Ultimately, you were beaten by an incredibly lucky shot by Tiger on the 16th and he should be man enough to admit it."

John Prior from Santa Rosa, Ca. says:
"Your play and desire for the game of golf is a true testiment for how the game should be played. Stay strong and carry on the good fight. As for the 05 masters you are a winner."

Mike from Bend writes:
"Chris, you outplayed Tiger on Sunday. You're my new favorite player. I've never seen such guts."

Mark says:
"I have to say I am very proud of Chris and the way he carried himself today on the final round of the Masters. He never gave up and never choked. Remember, he is the only player to be able to take Tiger on in the last group, on the last day of a Major, and convincingly take it to him and beat him by three strokes in that last round! I'm truly impressed and proud of him. Barring the chip-in on #16, he was the Masters champion. Way to go, Chris!"

A visitor writes:
"Chris played one of the best games of golf I have seen in the last 15 years and he deserved the win. What a great job he did today at the Masters."

Roger L. from California says:
"I have never golfed in my life but today Chris DiMarco inspired me with his comeback. Both he and Tiger are winners. Chris may not have won the jacket but I will never forget his name. Kudos to both."

Gini Auger, Carmel, California writes:
"Several years ago in South Africa I entered an elevator and there stood two very tall men.... since I'm not quite 5 feet I wasn't sure this was a good idea....but the door closed and I realized they spoke English...asked if they were in South Africa to see the golf tournament.. There was a moment of silence and then one of the gentlemen said well yes....another pause ...then Actually I'm playing in it.... I was embarassed that I didn't know who it was so I asked and what is your name. Chris Di Marco.... I said Hi Chris I'll watch for you....left the elevator and related the story to my husband... I've watched Chris's career boom eversince then....Congratulations Chris on a wonderful 2005 Masters... I've told this story many times over the past few years!"

Mike Dacre, BC, Canada says:
"I met Chris during his Canada Tour back in 1995 as I was a cameraman following the circuit. He was, in my opinion, what to watch for in the future of PGA and I have always kept a close look on his tours. Now, leading the Masters in 2005, 10 years later! Way to go Chris."

Carusone from Mount Dora writes:
"Chris played fine against David Toms at the Match Play Championship, he just hit Dave when he was playing his best golf ever. Nice playing Chris."

Brian, S.C. says:
"I was relly impressed with the way Mr. DiMarco handled himself after losing to David Toms in the 2005 Match Play. Although he was beaten early, he did not give up and made a great effort to recover. Then in the awards ceremony, he showed true class in congratulating Toms and the crew at La Costa. Chris has been and hopefully will continue to be a inspiration to young and veteren golfers alike. He shows a great attitude for the game and for the fans. Thanks Chris for being a great "Positive" role model for the fans!"

Jack Bartell from Portland, OR writes:
"It is always disappointing to see the way Chris reacts toward, and interacts with, fans at the golf course. Today, at the finals of the Accenture Match Play, Chris played a poor shot that hit a fan well off the fairway and short of his intended target. This shot was more than 100 yards from where the attending fans would have expected to see the ball land. Unfortunately, for both Chris and the fan, the ball bounced off the mans temple and landed well down into the rough. Chris followed that up with another poor shot out of some really difficult rough. Rather than express himself in an honorable way, Chris directed his anger at the fan for causing the poor result. That golf shot, and the result, are Chris DiMarco's responsibility.

Well Chris, you may be right that if there were no fans watching, you may have gotten a better result. However, you could well have been playing for $130 rather than $1,300,000. Please remember that the fans...allow you to earn a comfortable living playing a game. You're a great player. I wish you appreciated the fans a little more. They would treat you better if you did."

Dan from Florida says:
"Chris DiMarco makes me proud to be a gator."

Dale H GBG Pa writes:
"Met Chris at a restaurant in Greensburg Pa. last year. Very personable. I told him I thought of him as "every man's golfer", somone the common duffer can relate to..He said he liked that....Has the heart of a real tiger...fierce competitor..real person."

Patrick from Orlando says:
"Chris is a phenomenal player. He is in the top 20 in the world and top 10 in the U.S. I believe this year will be his year that he will win a major. Last year during the Ryder Cup, DiMarco led the team with 2 wins, 1 tie, and 1 lost in the humililation on the U.S. turf. But Chris is a good guy. I know him well cause he is my uncle, if u read this good luck Chris."

COMMENTS FROM 2004:

Glen D. of Dallas, TX writes:
"Chris may be disappointed by this year's International tournament results, but the experience will make him an even stronger player . As a result, we will see much more of him in the future. What an incredible God-given talent!"

Ron M. from Doylestown says:
"I like to believe that the best shot at the Masters was Chris' sand shot on the 18th that rolled 3 inches past Phil's ball. What an amazing shot."

Alex & Janet Lopresto from Lafayette, Louisiana write:
"We have followed Chris since March '97 when he and his wife and young son were a guest in our home for seven days when he played on the Nike Tour. Chris has come a long way and has played very consistent golf. One thing is for sure, he does put family first and golf second. During the many talks my husband and I had with Chris and Amy during their say with us, one thing is very sure, he is very much focused on his future and what his goals are for himself and his family. Chris worked very hard to earn his PGA card and keep it, including changing his putting grip. He has the most unique grip (which I've heard other players are now using). I think it's called the Gator Grip. Keep up the good work Chris, you're are destined for the big one soon."

Paul from Eagan, Minnesota says:
"I have followed Chris and his golf career for the past 4 years. The way he carries himself on and off the course is not only honorable...I hope it encourages others to do the following: Have fun...do your best...and remember..it is a game. The way he puts family first and golf second sets him apart as one of the class members of the PGA tour."

COMMENTS FROM 2003:

Jananne from N.C. writes:
"I've got high hopes for Chris this year - he looked great in Hawaii. I think he can shake things up a bit this year so we can see some different names on top of the leaderboard."

Bob G. from New York says:
"Always fun to watch. Chris always seems to be in the top ten in every PGA event he participates in. Family seems to be very important to Chris, something I really respect."

COMMENTS FROM 2002:

Mike Flatow of Longwood, FL has this to say:
"Turns out we went to school together and I actually beat him in Dodge Ball in 5th grade. I am not a golfer, but when I heard about Chris I began to take notice of the sport. What a great game. Does anyone know of a site where we can drop an email to a player? I would love to remind Chris that he is not the Only Champion from Sabal Point Elementary. Dodge Ball is not a game, it is a Science. Thanks for the time."

(Editor's note: Mike - it's nigh on impossible to find email addresses for tour players. But try here for info on how best to contact them)
